As part of our ESG strategy to increase sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of our products and our activities. Until now, we have focused mainly on the contents of the bin, but we have now also included the packaging itself in our efforts. In March 2023, we launched our first products in recycled bins. The new bins are easy to recognize for now by their gray color, and in the future by the emblem that we will use to label these products. The product inside the gray bins has not changed. It is the same high-quality color as in the conventional white bins. Soon, our entire product range will be available in recycled bins.

Why recycled plastic containers?

Packaging is one of the main sources of plastic waste, which often ends up polluting the environment. On the other hand, plastic is a very versatile material that can be designed to suit many different purposes and is not always easily replaceable, for example in paint packaging. The solution is to recycle plastic and ultimately move towards a circular economy. Recycling keeps plastic out of the environment, protects natural resources and helps reduce carbon footprints, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

We consider plastic waste a valuable resource and have decided to use it. We have therefore decided to support the projects of our partners who produce plastic containers from recycled materials by implementing them for our products and by supporting the further development of paint containers from recycled materials. In order to achieve the required product properties, the cans were extensively tested in our R&D laboratory with regard to handle stability, color, compression pressure and leak-proofness. We also carried out tests on our packaging lines and mixing systems to ensure that the containers run smoothly through the process. Currently, the lids and handles of the containers are still made of pure plastic to ensure optimal quality and stability. Due to the use of mono-materials, the recycled plastic containers are also 100% recyclable.

The bins are made of two types of recycled plastic: the so-called post-consumer recycles (PCR) from household and commercial waste and post-industrial recycles (PIR), which is excess plastic left over from industrial production. Plastic waste is not sorted by color and a mixture of all colors results in a gray color.

In other words: the gray color of the bucket indicates that it is green .
